Take exit 256 (WA-539) - turn right - head north (I5 was going west) Follow WA-539 north to the VE7 border. Turns into 264 St. Turn right onto Fraser Highway - into downtown Aldergrove. You can either backtrack to 264 St and go north to Highway 1, or keep going east on Fraser Highway and run into it. Go east on Hwy 1. Highway 1 will eventually sort of merge with 97C and shortly after that Hwy 97 will branch off to the north - towards Prince George/Dawson Creek. Stay on 97 all the way to Dawson Creek. Prince George to Dawson Creek is 4 hours (252 miles). You might fill up on gas in Chetwynd (about an hour before Dawson Creek), there is one report that says the gas is cheaper there. The one thing you must look out for are small red flags on the shoulder-- slow down! July 9th - Whitehorse to Nikiski, Alaska - 875 miles Estimated driving time - 16 hours Directions to VY1JA. How to find the place... Drive north of Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway and begin to slow down for a turn ahead when you pass a roadside rest stop on your right hand side. This is just at the point where the Alaska Highway (North) actually turns west. About a quarter or half mile from that bend you will find the Klondike Highway T's off to the right going up true North (aka Mayo Road). Turn right and check your odometer reading there. Drive 9-1/2 miles north watching the left hand side of the road. During that 9-1/2 miles you will cross the river bridge, pass the Takhini Hotsprings Road and with a convenience store / gas bar, and then a substation which marks the beginning of a 138,000 volt power line carrying power north beside you on the west side of the Klondike Highway. You will begin an odometer test zone and pass 0, 1, 2, and 3 kilometer markers. When you get to the marker for kilometer 4 slow down. The second drive past that marker on the left (West) side of the highway is mine. Look for a 110 foot tower and two wood poles with 3 inch aluminum masts holding up the ends of a v-beam fed at the tower back of them. There are several rough looking buildings in the yard and the main house is white with black roof overhanging a large porch running across it from end to end.
