Ant: 75ft inverted L, 34ft high, 650ft earth radials. RX: Drake 2B. Conditions not too good, didn't hear any stateside as I'd hoped, but pretty pleased with how I got on. Only a couple of stations couldn't make me out. 73 Nick - g4bmh Best QRB is 6073km for K2KW at FM17 - g4erw Best QRB is 5779km for K2KW at FM17 Disapppointing conditions - major storm wiped out the band late evening and I slept from 23:20 to 04:40. In the hour or two before dawn, a few US stations were workable, but high T-storm noise made it quite tough. - g5w ICOM756pro 100w dipole - ha6nl FLEX6600 Antennas: - ha7i FlexRadio 6600 / SUNSdr Antennas: Vertical - iu4jnr FT-817ND IC-905XG EH DP Yagi LW - jh7uju K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. For the Oct. 2025 Stew Perry, I (N3UM) was the only CW op. I did SOHP. I hoped to beat the just-fair score claim of 376 I got in the Oct. 2023 Stew P. Nope; Kp of 4 21-00Z & 5 00-03Z, G1 geomagnetic storm level, held me to a poor 0.65 X my 2023 score. From my 2105Z start to 2255Z I did ~OK; ran for 40 Qs plus 2 tuning, a 50/hr rate. I took a 10-min. BK, then tuned for 1 Q & got my longest run 2307- 0032Z, 50 Qs at 35/hr. Rate ~ the same 00-0029Z; 15 Qs, 29 min. Then just 5 Qs 0032-0058Z, total 20 in the 00Z hr. After 0032Z noise on the P3 spectrum display went up from a steady S-5 to a jumpy S-6 to S-7. I hoped it was storm QRN, and might go down and sigs go up as sunset moved west. I took a 20-min. BK to see if rate went up. No; just 14 Qs in the 01Z hr and 14 in the 02Z hr. Just after 00Z I saw on WM7D web that Kp was 5, G1 level. It was now clear that rate would stay low; only big loud stations could get ANY Qs, & smaller ones had quit. From 0301-3353Z I got just 10 Qs, CQ & tune. I tried till ~0415Z, then quit. My best high-point Qs were 2 for 5 pts in TX, and 2 for 6 pts in WY and KP2. I did get CW practice ahead of CW SS, but that's all; 160 can do that. - k3ccr Snuck in a few QSOs before flying off to do CQ WW SSB. Just put the 160 antenna up two days before. No DX, but good to know some people can hear me. - k5zd Best QRB is 1542km for AI6O at EM29 - ka3jnn Could not be heard... too late to work on antennas, already snow on the ground - kj9c lousy cndx, but my shielded magnetic loop on ground (KZ1S) saved the day. - km1r Best QRB is 9914km for ZS1C at JF96 - ly2xw Best QRB is 12964km for VK6T at OF88 - ly8o 100 w, 2x15m g5rv 10m high - lz1aq Best QRB is 1079km for VA1RST at FN84 - n2nc Best QRB is 18443km for VK6GX at OF88 - n4ydu Still without a 160 antenna. Kudos to N1LN and K1LT being able to hear my low power signal radiating from my 6BTV (no 160 wire). Hoping to get something back up in the air that resembles a 160 antenna soon! 73, Gene N9TF - n9tf Best QRB is 2682km for RM4F at LO23 - pa2dk TNX 73! - rm4f Best QRB is 6660km for K2KW at FM17 - sc7dx Best QRB is 2788km for UN0L at MO12 - se0x Best QRB is 2103km for EA5C at IM99 - so3o Best QRB is 2040km for EA5C at IM99 - so7na ICOM-718 - uw3wf Best QRB is 3878km for N6RO at CM97 - ve3jm Missed the sunrise opening owing to alarm set to PM instead of AM. Eeek. However nice opening to east coast USA at sunset here made me feel better. Great fun as always. - vk6vz Strong QRN, 40+ A index but at least everthing is working for the new season. My usual salute to VE1ZZ - vo1na Thunderstorms in the area posed somewhat of a problem. Delayed getting on and made things a little bit noisy but really not super bad. Conditions obviously not that good. Except for close by stations seemed like most running QRP. Thanks as always to the Boring Group for all the work. - w9re Most signals were a bit weaker than normal. I didn't hear N6RO - hello Ken... Still fun from Northern Oregon. Bill Sherwood, Oregon - wb6jjj I had fun - was nice to get Iowa. The 160 band was quite noisy at our CW portion - bad luck. Plan on participating on the two big 160 M contests this Dec. - wb8wua This was another WQ6X SP-160 contest GiG from Anza. Band conditions were rather poor. Then out of nowhere, the SWR went to infinite - I gather the phasing switch failed. Read more about this at: http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com. - wq6x RIG. TS930S ANT DELTALOOP - yo2kjw
