Info was sent to all regarding gopher abatement; my comment, These gopher
methods are OK but you want to rid the vineyard and surrounding area of all
gophers, babies and all. I have found that an old leaf blower with 8 feet of
flexible/electrical conduit attached to the exhaust pipe works well. You put
enough mixed gas and oil in the tank (two-cycle engine) to run for 10
minutes. Start the blower and put the exhaust conduit in the gopher hole and
this exhaust permeates all runs. Get on with your other work while the
blower is running. Be careful not to touch the conduit, it is hot. After the
blower stops, let it cool down first. We have eliminated 98% of our gophers
this way. Spring time is the most important because of their breeding
season. Trapping never ends because gophers are still left in the runs and
they breed.
