[DEMI] IC756 as IF??

Gentlemen,

Has anyone used or have thoughts on using an IC756 the (original, not
Pro or ProII) as an IF (using 10m)?  I know it is more common to use
other Icom or Kenwood (like the TS830S, etc.) rigs, but I "have one
available".  I have been using a Paragon II successfully, but the
ability to turn off the preamps/add attenuation + the "bandscope" is a
plus for the '756.  The negative is that there is no xvtr out as is on
the Paragon but the Icom does drop back to the 5 Watt level so that
shudn't be a major problem.

I put this question on the Icom reflector twice but with no response -
some folks think life stops at 30 MHz and I was of the alien variety!!

I hv not called Steve (yet) as I know he is up to his eyeballs preparing
for Dayton.

Thoughts, ideas, info sources, please.
