I am in process of building my 432-28 transverter and have been stymied
by two points. Steve is out of town!!!
One is the PTC 50 device. Not mentioned in the assembly instructions
but is shown on the schematic and says "posistor mounted to xtal". Can
anyone give me advice as to correct mounting of this device to the
crystal. I'm pretty sure it's probably not done with a rubber band!!!
I think I can figure out where to connect it in the circuit to run it
from 9V to ground when the LO is energized as shown on the schematic.
Item two is the brass angle to be soldered onto the bottom of the
circuit board. My assembly instructions say "position as shown". Well,
there is nothing on the bottom assembly diagram showing it. I think it
goes straight across the middle of the ground plane crossing F2 in the
middle of the board. The brass angle is longer than the board is wide.
Is it to be trimmed to the width of the board? Is it soldered down such
that it ends up looking like a roof (upside down V)? Or is it put on as
an "L" shape?
Other than those two items, I'm ready to continue, put the board in the
box and test it out!!!!
Thanks for the help
