Subject: Texas net on Tuesday at 8pm
Starting this Tuesday, June 10th , you are invited to join a directed net for all DStar stations in Texas and closeby.
The net will be on REF001A at 8pm Central Time, so gateway administrators are asked to enable or facilitate linking to this reflector.
The focus of the net will to establish a regular meeting time to discuss DStar items of interest within the State.
The order of items on the first net will be:
- You will be asked to check in by keying your radio,
- checkins will be "rogered in" by net control using voice, (listing calls shown on the internet)
- anyone missed will be asked to check in by voice
- each check in will be asked in turn to quickly report in brief:
- name, city, radio
- whether attached to any emergency communication group (ARES, RACES, MARS, CERT, REACT, an EOC, etc)
- after all checkins have completed their initial report, checkins will be given the opportunity to report on items of general interest to the group
- this should be brief
- examples could include new activity on DStar, or which gateways are linked, or ...(whatever)
- the net will be scheduled weekly at the same time, but your comments are invited on this!!
- the net control station will rotate (this week, Alan at N5TRS will be net control station and Aaron KE5KAF backup)
If you have questions about how to check in to the reflector, ask your local gateway administrator or this Group.
In general, you should have the following programmed in your radio:
URCALL CQCQCQ
RPT1 (your local repeater) , eg W5HDR^^C for the Houston area, where ^ is a space
RPT2 (your local gateway) eg W5HDR^^G for the Houston area
Donglers should connect direct to REF001A
As a fall-back, if we find that REF001A is occupied, then we will try REF001B.
Until Tuesday! I look forward to it!
