Hello All!

For a few days I am going to leave K5CTX B and KE5KAF C (Laredo) hard
linked via AA4RC's dplus utility which is on each gateway. This is not
part of the ICOM gateway software, but each of these gateways have it
installed and running. The net effect is that transmitting on one of
these machines also transmits on the other IRRESPECTIVE of what UR you
are using.

This is distinctly different from ICOM's "multicasting groups" where the
UR setting makes all the difference. Later, when I understad it better,
I explain further. This might be of some interest to you -

I want to remind users registered on W5HAT and K5CTX that to use the
gateway, you must complete BOTH parts of registering. To just use the
local repeaters, you don't have to register at all, but your
transmissions will not go out the gateway until you are fully
registered. It's confusing, but it's Japanese, remember. I'll paste an
excert from an earlier email below, but in summary: first you register
as a user on the gateway management computer - that is step 2A below.
Once that is complete and you are approved by NU5D or W5NCD, you come
back and login to the gateway management computer and complete step 2B.
At this point, do not try to understand it, just complete it. Email me
off list with questions. Here are the directions - many of you have
already done part 2A and just need to do part 2B:

(2A) First you register as a user on the gateway computer. Go to
https://66.196.13.25/Dstar.do accepting any certificates temporarily
when your browser asks you. Click on the Register button and fill
out the form. The system owners then approve your registration but
the email notification is not working. Everyone that has applied to
date is now approved. This is done on an at least daily basis. If
you have done this already, you don't need to do it again, and
actually you will find out you can't if you try.

(2B) Once you are approved (you all likely are), you must go back
and register a radio-callsign if you want to actually use the system
(why else would you be reading this?). Go back to
https://66.196.13.25/Dstar.do and click the personal information
menu. A form page will open with eight lines where you can enter
information about your radio-callsign (also referred to in Japanese
English as a "terminal"). Most of you will have only one radio-
callsign. Remember a DStar radio-callsign includes an up to seven
character amateur callsign and an eighth character which is usually
blank (a space, not a null). For now just enter one radio-callsign
as follows:

(2B.1) Click the far left checkbox on line 1.

(2B.2) Click the "initial" box to place the cursor in this box. Now
hit the spacebar to put a space character in this box. This is VERY
IMPORTANT.

(2B.3) Leave the RPT box unchecked.

(2B.4) Move the cursor to the "pcname" box. Enter your callsign in
lower-case. Please, lower-case!

(2B.5) Click the update button. As before, if you receive an error,
just try an hour or two later.
