Glad to see someone of you made it out last night. It was really
easy to see for several minutes here in the bright Intel parking
log.

Tonight, it will almost be as bright, but a little shorter.

The shuttle will start around 6:13 PM in the West, peaking up around
45 degrees in the NW at 6:16 PM and then going into the earth's
shadow at 6:16:46 just shortly after reaching its zenith.

The ISS will be significantly furthur behind - about 30 seconds in
time. They will appear to get furthur apart as the pass matures.
However, they are only about 125 miles apart. It will hit the
earth's shadow at 6:17:18.

If you are out near Damascus, stick around a few minutes in the
cold afterwards. Look in the North-north-east up around 50
degrees. At 6:21:21, you will see an Iridium flare - at a
magnitude of about -8 (the shuttle was -0.4 and the lower the
number the more bright). This is so bright because of the
reflection of the sun off one of the solar panels. It will
look a lot like the ISS at first, but then peak in intensity
for about 20 or 30 seconds - becoming about as bright as Venus
was this morning (which was very bright).
